Project Schedule
Because each site has differences, we draw up a Project Schedule Document that is approved by the client in advance of work commencing.
The purpose of the document is to clearly define all the elements that will go into the website and to break the site build process into small units of work that progressively produce the whole site.
As each unit of work is completed, it can be viewed and agreed by the client that it meets the requirements and so agree to proceed with the next unit.
Typically (but not exclusively) a project may be broken into:
- Site layout & Page style
- Navigation
- Content
- Graphics
- Special Features – viral marketing etc
- Testing
This clearly defines the stages of the project, and who is responsible for what and when milestones should be achieved. In this way, the client knows when they should be ready to provide input, content or special graphics, and we at 310k know what deadlines need to be met.
Whilst we have created websites from scratch in very short time scales of less than a week, the client should be aware that our experience shows the typical period from order to live site is approximate 12 weeks.
This automatic monitoring for both the client and 310k helps to keep project focus. Where a site needs building in a short time frame, this project management method ensures everyone involved knows the constraints.
